The P3MAX spark plug is installed on Series 4 engines. It can be installed on Series 2 and 3 engines at the customer's request.
The spark plug is based on the P3V3.i, but has an optimized design. It offers optimized ignition performance to increase engine stability, especially in lean operating conditions. In addition, the cage flap has been modified to improve the orientation of the electrodes after adjusting the electrode spacing.
A mixed installation of the spark plugs with other spark plugs listed in this Technical Instruction is possible without further measures.
The spark plug can be adjusted, i.e. the electrode spacing can be adjusted according to IW 0309 M0.
The adjustment is done via the ground electrodes. A special tool set is available for this purpose. This makes the adjustment robust and easy to carry out.
The electrode spacing for new spark plugs is 0.35 mm.
